YEAR: 2025

CONTENT:  The Art Residency at MAPAS was carried out with the community over two weeks to plan, design, and construct the interior of a van, which became the Galinheiro Criativo Ambulante, a mobile studio and creative meeting space.

This project focused on the collective design and construction of a structure inside the van. Over the course of the residency, community members — young and old, local artists, and the general public — participated in workshops, open sessions, and experiments, helping to shape a mobile creative space for meetings, conversations, and shared experiences.

More than carpentry, the residency was a process of collective critical and creative thinking, combining local knowledge, materials, and artistic expression. The resulting structure became a moving memory, carrying the identity of everyone involved while strengthening intergenerational ties, reducing social isolation, and reinforcing local cultural networks.
