YEAR: 2024
CONTENT: I was invited by MAPAS to develop a collaborative project with the local community one more time, which I titled ‘O Caminho do vento’, resulting in an open workshop in Ermegeira Park.
There are projects that, no matter how hard I try, I cannot fully describe how inspiring and motivating they were for me.
This was a collaborative initiative that brought together the local community—Maxial Secondary School and the senior group Muletas e Saltos Altos from Folgorosa—in the creation of handcrafted windmills at Parque da Ermegeira.
The windmills, iconic elements of the Oeste region’s landscape, carry a profound visual and symbolic significance, harking back to a time when the wind turned the sails and sustained many families. This territory, which at first glance might seem isolated, conceals immense creative potential, where the wind, invisible and constant, emerges as a driving force of change and transformation.
This was a moment of celebration and sensory interpretation of the wind, which here became a symbol of freedom, music, and vital energy. It was an invitation to reflect on what moves and connects people to the land, becoming a link between the heights and the paths, between the past and the present, and between the community and its sense of place. ❤️
I can only be grateful for being part of this current of air.
